I am excited to share to you the prenup photo session of Kix and Bless. If you’ll remember this gorgeous couple was the winner of our FREE Prenup Session Giveaway Contest.

What I admire about Kix and Bless is that both of them are not from Tacloban and yet they desire to stay here for good . Kix has been working in Tacloban for 3 years now while Bless just set foot in the city less than a year and still getting used to the slow paced life of Tacloban. Kix is from Manila and working as one of the Executive Assistants of the City Mayor of Tacloban while Bless grew up in Baguio City and now manages Patio Victoria (Formerly Baluarte Beach Resort). Patio Victoria is the newest multi-purpose venue to open in Tacloban and is operated and supervised by the stunning Cristina Gonzales-Romualdez the first lady of Tacloban City. It offers variety of services from parties, weddings, birthdays, reunions, or just a simple swim in the pool or the beach.

We started to take few photos in Patio Victoria and continued into the beautiful island of Dio. Dio is a charming small island owned by the Romualdezes and is just 20 minutes banca ride from Patio Victoria. Since the City Government made the area a fish sanctuary the marine life around the island is now flourishing. Anyhow, while the awesome make-up artist Joseph Ryan was doing a retouch on Bless, I went on exploring every inch of this private island. Not only that these island have hundreds of coconut trees there’s also a chapel, swimming pool and a four-wheeler truck.  I really wonder how the truck got there. J

Anyways, Kix and Bless thanks for joining our contest and for being a trooper during the whole shoot. You guys really made my work very easy. Kudos to the incredible make-up artist, Joseph Ryan, for the support to this endeavor and for making Bless and Kix a fabulous couple.

Paulin and Giandino’s wedding will go down in the books as one of my beautiful and most unique wedding locations.

They were married in a beautiful St. Pon’s Church (a 16^th century church) at the gorgeous and small village of Cabasse, Provence (Var), France.

Cabasse is a small village tucked into the forested hills of the Issole valley. The main village square is a cobbled courtyard and has a tall mossy fountain in front of Medieval arched passages through the ancient stone buildings. This is also where the couple had their first cocktail reception. This place is medieval as there are many old little streets for wandering, ancient stone walls, picturesque little shops and beautiful and colorful ‘French’ windows.

The second cocktail and wedding reception was held at the vineyard of Chateau Terrebonne. It’s just a couple of kilometers away from Cabasse and located between Aix en Provence and St. Tropez. The place is beautiful and probably built during the Middle Ages. Aside from taking photographs of the place I had a blast taking photos of their guests and family at the vineyard while the cocktails were going on.

The wedding day itself was a classic and beautifully styled evening of warm light, great music and a rather wild dance floor scene.

Giandino and Paulin, thank you for your hospitality, generosity and the kindness you showed us throughout the week. You gave me an experience I will never forget.

As what I heard those pink flowers can only be seen in the area of Cabasse and would grow only during the spring season. I hope my facts here are correct as I forgot the name of it.

Again thank you to the respective family of the bride and groom for the warm reception to us. And the side trips to St. Tropez and Monaco days before the wedding was really a great ice breaker to finally know everybody in the group. Our gratitude as well to Tita Deena and Tito Jeff and the rest of the family for adopting us and making me and my wife a part of your lovely family.

Going to a prenuptial shoot is often uneventful. This one occasion, however, was thrill-filled and a bit scary. Maui, Bam and I planned to have a different prenup theme – an island getaway. Having heard about the natural attractions of Kalanggaman, a secluded island, we decided to hold the shoot there.

We travelled by land from Tacloban to the town of Palompon, Northwest of Leyte. It normally takes less than an hour by motorized boat from Palompon to Kalanggaman. The motorized outrigger we contacted to take us to the island was initially prevented from leaving the port by the Coast Guard due to the strong wind and high waves. The group decided to have lunch while waiting for the go signal of the Coast Guard. After an hour, the group was so eager and excited to cross to  Kalanggaman. We decided to board the boat again and told the Coast Guard to let us go since the waves and the wind weren’t strong anymore. The Coast Guard eventually gave the approval. Twenty minutes to the trip there was a change of weather. The waves were starting to rise and the boat started to sway. Everybody in the group went silent except for Soc (friend of the bride) who was shouting all the time telling everybody to be calm and to stop moving. When the waves started to pound our boat I started to get worried. I wasn’t afraid of our gears since we brought our pelican case and I’m confident that it will always be safe and dry. As we were traversing slowly the waves gets bigger and bigger and then all of the sudden the engine of the boat conked out.  I know from what I read that the real danger during high seas is when your boat looses power. The engine conked-out three times in the entire trip. It was at that moment that I started praying hoping that we’ll arrive in the Island safe and sound. It was always a sigh of relief when I would hear the sound of the engine every time the boatman cranks it up. I would hold to the boat tightly and checked my life jacket regularly especially when a 10-15 footer waves would pass us. It was only when I saw the coconut trees of the Island that I became relaxed. It took a little less than 2 hours for us to arrive at the Island. It was slowly but surely. Everybody was wet but I could see happy and relieved faces the moment we set foot on the island.

Anyhow, so much so with the story. Here are the photos of our prenuptial session. It was thrilling but I guess the photos never showed what we went through.

The last five photos were taken on the following day. We were hoping that by then the wind and the waves would subside. We were all wrong. The guide won’t let us swim due  to the strong current and high waves so we opt to just make use of the time and take more snapshots. The trip back to the main land was more better. But we heard the that Coast Guard never allowed anyone to cross to the Island on that long weekend despite the number of tourist. So we were still lucky!

Thanks Maui and Bam for giving us the opportunity to capture you and for unforgettable experience that I would surely share to my children.  :)

So these are the story of our lovely couples:

Couple #1: CHITO & AGNES

Our love started as friend way back in my nursing days. There was this new guy on the campus enrolled as a nursing student, at that time I didn’t know anything about him but just a gist of how he care himself in the campus. He would always wear that baseball cap of his every time he passes by going to his class. and as days gone by this guy was being friendly with my classmates and I was getting to know him bit by bit that he was from the states and he was also from my home town where I was born.

One afternoon just doing my own thing, suddenly the phone rang much to my surprise it was this guy from my school who I would sometime think about or curious.

He called up looking for my sister asking the name of our Dean in our department. My sister wasn’t around so I did the honor in answering his query. From there things change…

My Gay classmate had a big crush on this guy that sometimes he made me call him at his house making big drama like pretending to be the girlfriend of gay classmate named Clark. Called him many times I would ask him what’s up with you and my boyfriend, he simply answers “nothing” every time (Innocently). Not knowing that he was being set up I may say, but I felt bad about it. And for a reason I told him what was going on and I was just doing my classmate a favor by doing that, he took it okay and started laughing about the whole thing. I felt relieve after.

We became friends and talk on the phone. Times gone by that I haven’t notice that our phone conversations were being more frequent, we would talk late at night even if my skin was already brutalize by the mosquitoes and he would hide under a office table just to hide from his grandmother scared of being caught but all this was worth it even if we both have classes in the morning. We would talk about many things and got to know each other more. And sometimes we would whisper things to each other that normally a friend doesn’t do. I admit and so does he that there was this thing or feelings between us that was growing in our friendship but it was too premature to express or to unfold. He would ask me couple of times on a friendly date and that was it.

Sometimes his feelings show because he would get jealous when I’m out with my friends with guys. Even though all that time he was with someone from Cebu for more than 3yrs. Funny thing was I became friend his girlfriend and she would ask me about him and to watch over him, not knowing that I was falling over to her guy and so was he.

The feeling was mutual but the time was against our tide. So I guess we let go of it. Time pass by I end up finishing up my course and I have to prepare for my board exam. He stop and move back to Cebu but every time he was on the city he gives me call and he never fail doing it, I don’t know for what reason. And everything stop, no calls or whatever..

We move on with our lives, I found someone else and that was it although it was different from what I felt for him..Yes I miss him.. Couple years pass by and all of the sudden the phone rang and in the end of the line it was that voice who I use to talk to and spent sleepless night on the phone for a long time, it was a mix emotion for me even though I was so glad to hear his voice again after how many years. We spoke like we missed each other so so much but after I had to let him go because my boyfriend was around and asking me about who was on the line. I guess I hurt his feeling when I told him that “I have to go cause my boyfriend is here” .and he was gone again leaving behind a code 823 which I didn’t know what it was..

I was with my boyfriend for a few year and thing went sour, I would cry on my sleep I was hurt bad and after the only thing that went to my mind was try to find him through a call, don’t know why him.. so I called his house Cebu and spoke to his mom and ask her mom where I can contact him and so I did finally got his mobile number and there without a doubt I dial his number and phone rang, I didn’t know what to say or how would I talk to him after a long time.. he answered and said hello, at that time when I heard his voice again, it felt so nice and thought of it I real miss the guy, he made me smile again and in the same time without him knowing it I was me calling asking for his comfort and security. He was already single.. hehehehe..

From there everything came around, the sun was shining again. He Started calling me again and started all over again.. And now after 9years of being with him, we are getting married this November.

It was that CALL and my first HELLO that started all this..

Our love story so precious that I want to make a tribute about it, that when someday when we would be in our golden age I may say, that I would want to look back and say that we were in love. It’s always nice to reminisce things in the past specially when it’s part of you.

Why would we want Joey Reyna Photography for our prenup session?

Of course we want our lifetime pictures to be shot by the BEST PHOTOGRAPHER, not only in town, but the WHOLE WORLD since you’ve already conquered other countries I may say! But unfortunately my fiance and I, lost our jobs few months ago, so we decided to cut our budget. Although now we have new jobs, still not enough for everything  And since, we couldn’t afford your PF (hehe), we tried our luck in joining your contest. Who knows, we might win this one, a big savings for us di ba and not only that, the “Joey Reyna” will be our photograher! A great deal indeed! 

I’ve seen you evolved your work from just an amateur before, now your so professional. When you shot my sister’s wedding, I told myself that someday, you’ll also be on my wedding day and be the one who will make our special day last for a lifetime with beautiful pictures.

Couple #2: KIX & BLESS

HIS SIDE….

Hi! My name is Francis Albert “KiX” S. Javier, and I am marrying a girl who has seen me at my worst and loves me nonetheless. My story begins. I first met Bless at a youth gathering in UP Los Banos way back 2001 while we were still freshmen. I was playing drums, and this chubby and pawisin girl wearing jeans, a loose white shirt and some “jologs” shoe approached me and asked me if I was playing drums.  Well, I really didn’t know how to play drums. Then later on, I learned that she was a drummer herself.

Anyway, I really didn’t have the slightest physical attraction to her back then. I had my different set of standards when it comes to physical attraction. I was attracted to girls who are tall, light skinned and chinky eyed. Bless was not one of them. We continued to be friends in church and put up a political organization. We ran, won and served in the student council. During those times, she is the little girl who speaks up and gets things done. That was when we started to get close with each other. She is a strong and independent woman I should say, but she allows you to be a man as well. As for me, I liked that since it is inside every man to rescue a damsel in distress. She was strong, but I knew that I needed to protect her like a little sister. I protected her from her stalkers and I watched from a distance when she is with guys he liked.

She graduated ahead of me and I was still in college while she worked in Manila. Still, we would talk with each other and call each other up. I was a student so I had limited resources. She would always treat me to a movie or a meal every time.  Our relationship as brother and sister grew stronger. There was “us.” My mom would even consider her as her daughter, and her mom would call me anak.

When I graduated, I went on and worked. Somehow I managed to convince her to join the company where I worked as well. This relationship had to go somewhere. On December 31, 2008 on new years eve, as the fireworks went off, we became “US.” Four months after, April of 2009, I answered God’s call for me to serve in Tacloban. It was hard. We had to fight for our relationship emotionally, spiritually, and financially. I would end up loosing my savings just for me to be able to visit her in Manila. We would fight and argue sometimes over the phone. There was a point that we almost broke up, but we both knew that this relationship was worth fighting for, and we believed that God brought us together for a purpose. A relationship should have a purpose, and that is why ours lasted despite of the long-distance relationship.  I had to bring her here in Tacloban, so I asked her to marry me last March 2011.  Now there is really an “us.”

We rarely have nice photos of us being together. The last nice picture we had was when Bless forced me to do a pictorial at Great Image in Baguio, which is the photo we are sending you. We are joining this contest because we believe that Joey Reyna can capture “us”.

HER SIDE…

My name is Bless, I am from Baguio City, and my fiancé is Kix, he is from Quezon City. We are both not from Tacloban City, but for some reason, we have been placed in Tacloban in this season of our lives. We hope to make the most out of our stay in this City and hope to be a blessing to the people here as well.

We have been friends since we were freshmen students in UPLB. We were in the same band, same organization, same church, and both ran, won, and served in the student council. We did not like each other back then, but then we became close thru DOTA (our anti-stress game before) and other hobbies. We’ve been a couple for already 2.5 years now, we just got engaged last March, and we will get married on January 2012.

It has been tough, and we went through a lot in life as a couple. We have also tried being in a long distance relationship, as he was sent to Tacloban first for work. It wasn’t easy. We both had to fight for the relationship, as we do not believe in disposable relationships; and believe it or not, he is my first, and I am his first. It is really amazing how God writes love stories.

We hope to get picked in this prestigious contest. Joey Reyna Photography is like the top Photography Company in Tacloban City. When I first met Joey Reyna Photography, around two months ago when I arrived in Tacloban City, I went like ‘gulp’ when I saw the prices. I wasn’t convinced that their prices can justify the quality of their work. But eventually, when I got exposed more to their work…I understood that their price was reasonable and affordable as compared to other high-quality photography in Manila. The quality of their work, I am proud to say, is world class, and I am happy that they get projects abroad as well; these opportunities would be an avenue to tell the world how talented Filipinos are.

There is something about Joey Reyna Photography that makes them unique and distinct. As people from Tacloban would always quote, “you just know it’s Joey Reyna Photography when you see a photo.” When I asked them “how?” or “why?” They just answer me, “I don’t know but there is something distinct in every photo they make, and you just know it is Joey Reyna Photography.”

To be honest, we barely have 5 months, and we only have P8,005.35 in our bank account for our wedding, so we did not really plan on having a pre-nup and just invited friends who are photography hobbyists for our wedding…hehe… We just laugh about our financial status as of now, but at the same time, we work for it, and just know that we will get thru the wedding without debts…

We hope to get picked. Even if we do not have the money, we have lot’s of friends and blog viewers who will get to see our photos, thus more aggressively promoting Joey Reyna Photography not just in Tacloban City, but also in Baguio City, Manila, other parts of the Philippines, and the world. It would really be a privilege to have you guys take out pre-nup pictures and also to get to try the make up by Joseph Ryan, the famous air-brush make-up provider in the region.

Couple #3: STEVEN & LUCY

How we met…

I was invited to a Chinese association gathering in Cebu last October. There I met Jen, Steven’s sister. We got back to Tacloban, Jen showed Steven my profile in Facebook. He was mesmerized with the pictures. Then we became friends and had countless late-night chatting.

We wanted to keep in touch all the time and after a week or so, he asked my number so we could still talk whenever. There seemed like a longing to see each other. He was looking for chances so we could meet.

He made me feel so special. The first was Krispy Kreme doughnuts where he wrote the note “From a secret admirer”. When he revealed himself, he would call almost every day and find way so we could see each other again.

It was an evening of November 2010 that we had our first date, I was at the salon relaxing after a busy day. He fetched me after my dose of pampering and we had dinner somewhere downtown. He sent me ‘pasalubong’ when he gets back from somewhere or gifts during an ordinary day, with a note to go with it. We had quite a conversation but it was still early so we decided to have coffee after so we could get to know each other more. We talked just about anything. It felt like we knew each other for a long time. Actually. I did for quite a while but secretly. Who would have thought that I’m dating my crush when I was in grade school? It is probably why we feel so connected.

After a couple of months of dating, he asked me to be his girlfriend. It felt like it was the right time so I said yes. We became closer to each other. Each day was brighter and meaningful. A day would not be complete without being able to talk. There is always something interesting, slowly we became attached to each other.

One day, Steven told me that his family was going to our house to ask permission so I could go with him out of the country. Yes, they did ask, and my mom says she agrees. After that they were asking my mom for my hand in marriage. It is a Chinese custom to ask the parents first of a carefully chosen prospect bride.

My mom says that she’ll be happy whatever my decision was.I was shocked at first; I was kicking his feet discretely asking him how he never told me they were going to talk about it. He told me he knew they had plans but they told him that morning before going to our house. I asked again, “why so soon? I thought you were thinking of settling down in five years?!?” He calmly held my hand, told me… “I said within five years, I think it’s about time. It is still up to you. We both have to agree to make it possible. If you’re unsure just tell them you’ll think about it. I was reluctant at first, I was stating my reasons I didn’t want to tie-the-knot too soon. After all the persuading, I was out of reasons, I finally agreed as we were getting there anyways.

We knew we were each other’s soul mate since day one. We were like each other’s male/female counterpart in personality. Even the imperfections made us perfect for each other.

So that was it, to this day, we are finally planning to get married.

My smile reached up to my ears when I found out that the Embassy of France in Manila gave me a visa. Yahoo!!! My very first wedding photography outside of the Philippines or should I say my very first destination wedding.
